Hi everyone! Welcome to KU Law. My name is Luke Viestenz, and I am a 1L at the University of Kansas School of Law. I am from Overland Park, Kansas. I graduated from William Jewell College, where I played baseball, majored in political science and minored in business administration.

After undergrad, I took a year off from school. I worked as a Registered Representative for a retirement account record-keeper where I assisted participants with their investment goals. While working and earning a paycheck was enjoyable, I knew that attending law school was the ultimate destination.

While applying to law school, I wanted to find a school with a tight-knit community, small class sizes, accessible professors who genuinely care about their students, and opportunities to gain hands-on experience in my desired area of law. After my visit, I was ecstatic to learn KU had what I was looking for! As the first person to attend law school in my family, I have never felt out of place and have enjoyed getting to know everyone at KU.

I understand how stressful choosing a law school can be, but don’t let that dissuade you from making to best decision for you. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to discuss anything pertaining to your decision. I wish you good luck, and as always: Rock Chalk!
