3L | Overland Park, KS | University of Tulsa | email@example.com
My name is Paul Cassat, and I’m a 3L from Overland Park, Kan. I went to the University of Tulsa for my undergraduate education, where I received my bachelor's degree in history and political science in May 2011.
While my political science and history majors are typical of many law students, I was far from set on attending law school until late in my college career. My goal is usually to simply study what interests me and then see where those interests take me. In fact, while I originally came to KU Law with the intention of taking advantage of the school's excellent international and comparative law program, I've since developed an interest in corporate law and finance — the field I in which intend to practice after graduation. It's because of the amazing professors and Career Services Office staff at KU Law that I've been able to pursue all of my interests in the classroom and beyond.
In addition to its academic programs, I chose KU Law because of the positive student environment I saw when I visited. I was nervous about what my fellow law students would be like, and about how a competitive law school environment would impact students, but at KU everyone was super friendly and helpful. I could tell it would not only be a great place to get a highly regarded education, but that I would also be able to make friends and enjoy the company of the folks around me.
Of course, coming to KU Law wasn’t all about the small-school setting, because I also get all the advantages of a large university like KU. That means top-tier recreation facilities, lots of places to eat and, of course, Jayhawk basketball games! I am so glad that I chose KU, and I can’t wait for what’s yet to come during my time here. Because there are so many opportunities here, I know that any student — whatever his or her interests — could have a highly rewarding and enjoyable experience at KU Law. Rock chalk!
