Justice Caleb Stegall was appointed to the Kansas Supreme Court by Gov. Sam Brownback in December 2014. He previously served as a Kansas Court of Appeals judge from January - December 2014. Prior to his service on the bench, Stegall served as chief counsel to Gov. Brownback from 2011-2014 and managed his own firm, Stegall and Associates, from 2005-2011. Early in his legal career, Stegall clerked for the Honorable Deanell R. Tacha, L'71, chief judge of the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and practiced at Foulston Siefkin's Topeka office.
