My name is Karen Campbell (she/her), and I am a 2L from Lawrence, Kansas — a townie and a second-generation KU Law attendee! I graduated from KU in 2019 and lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for three years before returning to Lawrence to attend KU Law.

As an undergraduate, I went around the world to seven countries on four study abroad programs and spent a semester in Washington, D.C. through KU’s D.C. internships program. That internship — at the Supreme Court of the United States — led to a three-year position where I worked closely with the Court administration process and engaged deeply with my developing ideas about access to justice and the appellate court system.

I started my law school search knowing that I wanted to attend an affordable school that would help me form close connections with classmates and professors while also engaging in all the things I loved about undergrad: the ability to travel, find work experiences outside of Kansas, and graduate with small enough loans that I can work in the public sector without overwhelming student loan debt.

KU Law gives me all those things and more. I look forward to participating in KU’s hands-on learning opportunities like Moot Court, Externships, and Judicial Field Placements. After graduation, I hope to take my degree back to Washington, D.C. to work in public service. I’m so excited to share my excitement about law school with you! Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
