Hey, y’all! My name is Savannah Lucas, and I am a 3L. I grew up in a military family with roots all over the country, but I refer to Leavenworth, Kansas as my hometown. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2018 with degrees in economics and French. After that, I returned to the Kansas City area, where I worked as a financial analyst prior to attending KU Law.
As an undergraduate, I sought opportunities to marry my interests of language and business. I spent three years teaching language, business and leadership to high school students in western Alabama. This experience kickstarted my personal resolution to make education, and the power that comes with it, more accessible to others. I am excited to serve on the KU Law Ambassador team to hopefully make information about legal education more accessible to you.
As the first person in my family to attend law school, I went through the admissions process blind. I also went through it not once, but twice — once as an undergraduate, and again as a young professional. I know how intimidating, and exclusive, the law school application process can seem. To the potential student reading this: I hope to be a resource for you! Please reach out about anything ranging from tips for your application to questions about life as a law student.
I am deeply cognizant that this year has been challenging: working from home, caring for loved ones, and (most importantly) caring for ourselves. The KU Law Ambassador team knows you might have concerns about how KU Law is adapting to these unusual circumstances, and we are happy to answer those questions. Please feel free to reach me at any time via email!
