Hello! My name is Juliette Nguyen, and I am from Wichita, Kan. It is very exciting for me to return to Lawrence as a third-year law student. I graduated in May 2010 from KU’s School of Business, where I received my B.S. in marketing with a concentration in international business. I have had a great experience at KU through my involvement inside and outside of the school during my undergraduate years. One of my favorite memories was my summer studying abroad with friends in Italy. I was executive vice president for Alpha Delta Pi sorority, a volunteer for Ronald McDonald House charities, a volunteer for the Ali Kemp Foundation and a Rock Chalk Revue business representative benefiting the United Way.

Pursuing a law degree has been an interest of mine since high school. It began with my participation in the Grow Your Own Lawyer Program sponsored by the Wichita Bar Association. The program set me up with a mentor who helped me further explore the possibility of going to law school. When I came to KU as a freshman, I participated in the Law and Society Thematic Learning Community, which gave me even more interest in pursuing an education in law.

My experiences before graduating KU gave me multiple opportunities to be exposed to KU Law. I was aware of its prestigious reputation for academic success both in the Midwest region and nationally. It was important to make sure that the school was the right one for me. I was a bit apprehensive about going to law school where I received my undergraduate degree, but touring the building and sitting in on a class my senior year of college definitely helped me decide. I felt the most comfortable at KU Law. I noticed the diversity of the student body, and I knew that I would have many opportunities to succeed both academically and personally.

My experience thus far has been amazing. The faculty understands the importance of helping students understand the material, and the open-door policy of the professors has helped me feel like I can approach them with anything. I really encourage you to come visit us at KU Law to experience the atmosphere and learn more about what the school has to offer. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
