Biography

Bill Coates, a graduate of the University of Kansas and KU Law, has maintained a civil trial practice in state and federal courts of Kansas and Missouri for almost forty years. Restricting his practice to civil litigation, he has tried to verdict more than 100 jury trials.

He has lectured locally and nationally on all aspects of trial practice and teaches annually at the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel’s Trial Academy. He holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is Master Emeritus of the O’Connor Inns of Court. In 1986, he was elected to membership in the Federation of Insurance & Corporate Counsel, a national organization whose membership is limited by invitation only to 2,000 members in the U.S. & Canada. Coates currently serves on the national executive committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and is a former regional vice-president of that organization.
