Environmental Law Video Series

The University of Kansas School of Law hosted a public lecture on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, presented by James Salzman, Donald Bren Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law with joint appointments at the UCLA School of Law and UC Santa Barbara Bren School of Environmental Science & Management. “The Past, Present and Future of Drinking Water,” explored conflicts over drinking water, from social justice and globalization to climate change and emerging contaminants. This event was featured as part of the annual Big 12 Law Schools Signature Lecture Series.

The University of Kansas School of Law hosted host the first biennial Environmental Law Symposium on March 6, 2026. The keynote address, "Water and the Machine: Preserving Water and People in the Age of A.I.," was delivered by Cynthia Barnett, author, journalist, and Director of Climate and Environment Journalism Initiatives at University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.

The University of Kansas School of Law hosted a public lecture on Thursday, October 30, 2025, presented by Erin Ryan, Associate Dean for Environmental Law Programs and Elizabeth C. & Clyde W. Atkinson Professor of Law at the Florida State University College of Law. Professor Ryan discussed her forthcoming book, "Law for the Land: The Public Trust Doctrine, Mono Lake, and A Quiet Revolution in Environmental Rights" (Cambridge University Press 2026). The lecture was featured as part of the Big 12 Law Schools Signature Lecture Series. This event was made possible through a generous grant from the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law.
