Dear KU Law community,
I’m writing with several updates concerning the University of Kansas response to protect against the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The latest news from the university continues to be available at coronavirus.ku.edu. Law school-specific information will be posted at law.ku.edu/coronavirus-information.
There are several important matters to highlight:
• Online Instruction: Online classes will begin the week of March 23. Faculty will contact you next week to let you know how those classes will be conducted and how they can be accessed.
• Exams/Graduation: We anticipate that exams will take place as scheduled. We also anticipate that graduation events will take place as scheduled. Should plans change, we will notify you as soon as possible.
• Clinics and Field Placements: Clinical faculty will reach out directly to students about their plans.
• Law School Events: We will continue to assess scheduled events as we know more about the situation, based on university guidance. Event updates will be available on the law school calendar. Unless you are contacted individually, you should assume that all law school events/meetings/gatherings – whether they are to take place within or outside of Green Hall – scheduled through Sunday, March 29 have been canceled. Student group leaders who wish to conduct organizational meetings during the next two weeks should contact group members directly and schedule those meetings to happen virtually.
• Library: The Wheat Law Library will remain open next week but will remain on spring break hours.
• Career Services Office: Our career services team is working diligently to maintain all their services. Heather Spielmaker will send additional information to students about how that office will operate during the remote instruction period on Monday.
This situation is evolving rapidly, and we are closely coordinating and monitoring it as a leadership team. We are committed to supporting our students and ensuring everyone continues to earn the credits they will need to advance toward graduation.
We will provide updates as new information becomes available.
Please take care of yourselves and do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if you have questions or concerns.
