Biography —
Dionne Scherff has a law practice dedicated to criminal defense. She started her trial attorney career as a prosecutor in the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office then moved to the Johnson County District Attorney's Office. As a prosecutor, Scherff specialized in child abuse and sex crimes.
Dionne Scherff is a member attorney at Joseph, Hollander & Craft. Her current practice takes her to federal and state court on criminal matters in Kansas and Missouri. She is death penalty qualified in the state of Kansas and has enjoyed the victory of a death penalty case dismissal on the morning of jury trial. Scherff has extensive jury trial experience in both state and federal court.
She also has a healthy appellate practice. She writes and argues briefs in the state of Kansas appellate courts as well as the 8th and 10th federal circuit courts. She also handles civil forfeitures relating to property seized during criminal investigations. Scherff is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars. Finally, she is frequently asked to serve as a judge pro tem in Johnson County District Court.
