Biography —
Shelley Hickman Clark joined KU Law in 1990 as a supervising attorney in the Douglas County Legal Aid Clinic and became director in 1995. She is an expert in the law of historic preservation. Clark was appointed associate dean and director of clinical programs in 1999. She returned to the Legal Aid Clinic in the fall of 2002. An outstanding teacher, she won the 1999 Immel Award for teaching excellence. Prior to joining the law school, she clerked for the Hon. Arthur J. Stanley Jr. and the Hon. Richard D. Rogers, United States District Court, District of Kansas. She served as pardon and extradition attorney for Gov. John Carlin and as hearing officer for the Kansas Corporation Commission before entering private practice in 1985. She retired in 2015.
