Professors Levy, McAllister discuss amendment question in national media ahead of primary vote

Two constitutional law scholars at the University of Kansas School of Law have been featured as subject matter experts in national news coverage in the weeks leading up to the Aug. 2 Kansas primary election.

On the ballot is a state constitutional amendment question that could impact the future of abortion legislation in the state. Kansas voters will be the first in the nation to vote on abortion access since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that guaranteed access to abortion across the country.

Richard Levy, J.B. Smith Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law, and Stephen McAllister, E.S. & Tom W. Hampton Distinguished Professor of Law, have offered expert insight on the issue to national media outlets including The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Slate, ABC News, CBS News, National Public Radio, FiveThirtyEight, Vox and The New Republic, and to regional media outlets.

McAllister is scheduled to appear on the MSNBC show “Chris Jansing Reports” on Aug. 2, live in Kansas City at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. The show airs from noon to 1 p.m. CST. McAllister has spoken with reporters for related stories in The Wall Street Journal, Newsy and FOX4 Kansas City.
