The annual Diversity in Law Banquet celebrates diversity in the legal profession and serves as a fundraiser for the Diversity in Law Scholarship.
KU Law students organizations - Asian Law Students Association, Black Law Students Association, Hispanic American Law Students Association, Native American Law Students Association, and OUTLaws & Allies - take turns hosting this annual event.

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend the 29th Annual Diversity in Law Banquet. This year's event will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, at The Jayhawk Club in Lawrence. The banquet will be hosted by the Native American Law Students Association (NALSA).

Keynote Speaker
Layatalati Hill is the Chief Trial Court Judge and a peacemaker for the Oneida Judiciary. This is his first elected term as Chief Judge. Previously, Chief Judge Hill served as a Trial Court Judge for the Oneida Judiciary for six years. Chief Judge Hill received his bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in management from Haskell Indian Nations University. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor with a Tribal Lawyer Certificate from the University of Kansas School of Law.
Throughout his service as a judge for the Oneida Judiciary, Chief Judge Hill has administered justice in a consistent fashion, considering the context of all relevant circumstances, and through the fair application and interpretation of Tribal laws, policies, rules, caselaw, tribal traditions and customs.
Chief Judge Hill also serves on the Board of Directors for the National American Indian Court Judges Association and is a member of the Wisconsin Tribal Judges Association.

2023 Diversity in Law Banquet
Thank you to everyone who supported the 28th Annual Diversity in Law Banquet, KU Law's annual celebration of diversity in the legal profession! Together, event sponsorships and donations raised more than $45,000 for the Diversity in Law Scholarship at KU Law. This year's banquet was hosted by the Asian Law Students Association (ALSA) and KU Law. Sudha Setty, professor of law and dean at the City University of New York School of Law was our keynote speaker.
