Alex Platt, University of Kansas professor of law, has received one of the highest honors in the field of corporate and securities law. The Kansas Energy Transition Atlas is a GIS-powered website that gathers wind energy regulations for all of the state's 105 counties and allows users to find information including laws guiding development and the number of turbines and transmission lines in a county. Users can print their own detailed maps.

KU Law receives $1.6M grant to aid veterans
The University of Kansas School of Law is set to receive $1.6 million in federal funding for the establishment of a free legal aid clinic dedicated to serving veterans. With an estimated 194,000 veterans in Kansas, the clinic would be the first of its kind in the state.

KU Law wraps up transactional law competition season with another first-place win
On March 30-31, two KU Law students competed in the William & Mary Colonial Cup Transactional Law Competition. Third-year law student Matthew Firnhaber and second-year law student Amanda Brauninger beat out teams from across the country, taking home the award for “best draft.” This win marks the 3rd first-place finish at a transactional law competition in as many months.

A KU legal scholar contributed to a study that found AI emitted hundreds of times less carbon than humans in the tasks of writing and illustrating. That does not mean they should replace humans, but their environmental impact and how the two can work together should be considered, researchers said.

KU Law welcomed the Class of 2025 to Green Hall in August. The first-year class is made up of 137 students from 26 states and 73 undergraduate institutions. The class of 2025 also sets a KU Law record for the highest combined median LSAT score and undergraduate GPA.
