Allison Applequist - Student Ambassador

Hi! My name is Allison Applequist, and I am a 1L from Hays, Kansas. I received my undergraduate degree in May from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, where I played golf and soccer. I was a triple-major in Business Administration, Finance, and Marketing with a minor in Computer Applications.
I have been fortunate enough to experience the career of a lawyer first-hand from my mom. My mom has been my inspiration for practically everything in my life, so it only made sense that she inspired me to go to law school and pursue a career as an attorney. My mom is a healthcare in-house counsel attorney, which is a field I am extremely interested in because of my experiences with her work and the complexities of the healthcare system. I love how unpredictable the healthcare industry is, and I would be honored to one day advocate for those who need care.
KU was always my top choice, even before I knew I wanted to go to law school. I have truly been a Jayhawk for life. In fact, I can recall a particular Halloween when I was little, and I HAD to dress up as a KU cheerleader (and I did!). KU and the Lawrence community is a truly special place, as you will always feel welcome here. The community of the law school has been exceptional, and it truly feels like everyone is cheering you on. Whether it’s the faculty, staff, or students, you will find a supportive community here at KU.
