Hi y'all! My name is Gabby Fischer, and I am a 1L from Salina, Kansas. I did my undergrad at the University of Kansas, so I am very familiar with Lawrence and the surrounding area. I studied Political Science and Sociology with a minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality studies.
I have known I wanted to pursue a career in the legal field since high school when I was obsessed with my U.S. History and Government courses, but I committed to going to law school during my sophomore year of undergrad when I took Constitutional Law with Professor Castle who also teaches Electronic Discovery and Pretrial Advocacy at KU Law. I am interested in immigration law and family law with the hopes of one day becoming a district court judge.
The deciding factor for me in choosing KU Law was the community and culture of the law school. A lot of my peers in undergrad also went to KU Law, so I already had a rather strong support system and network to help me navigate the process. I also loved the support KU Law offers its students in finding careers outside of the classroom since the reason all of us are here is to have a successful legal career. And the free bar prep was a huge positive!
My favorite place to study in Green Hall is the large tables on the second floor of the library because it is close to the printers and has a great 1970s academia vibe. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to chat about where else I like to study on campus.
