Biography

Demetrius Peterson graduated from KU Law in 2009. He spent the first twelve years of his legal career practicing education law in private practice at a law firm, at the U.S. Department of Education and at the Kansas Association of School Boards. Peterson has more than a decade of experience working directly with colleges and universities on Title IX compliance issues. Peterson also has significant experience advising educational institutions on Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Age Discrimination Act. During the 2021-22 academic year, he served as the University’s Interim Director of its Office for Civil Rights.
