Taylor Rios - Student Ambassador

1L | Arcadia, California | California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
Hi! My name is Taylor Rios, and I am a first-year law student from Arcadia, California. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where I studied business administration, management and human resources. After college, I moved to Seattle, Washington, and worked as a luxury hotel manager for about a year. I left that job, moved to Kansas City and applied to law schools.
I chose KU Law because I was drawn to the collegial atmosphere of the law school. I had heard horror stories about other law schools and how intense they are. KU Law students still work hard and have a lot of ambition, but I have not experienced a toxic culture and everyone I have talked to is always willing to help.
Outside of law school, I volunteer with Experience Camps for Grieving Children, a nonprofit that provides free overnight summer camps for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. I also volunteer with Jackson County CASA as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, working to advocate for children in foster care and their needs.
I am happy to answer questions about moving to Kansas, attending law school after working full time or living in Kansas City while attending KU Law. I am also happy to talk about any other general questions!
