Pro Bono Impact: Guardianship Assistance Program
Carly Boothe, L’06, started a pro bono guardianship assistance project with KU Law student volunteers in fall 2021. The program helps low-income families navigate the process of obtaining legal guardianship of their adult children with disabilities.
Pro Bono Impact: Marlborough Community Coalition
Jere Sellers, L’93, and Richard Cook, L’07, hope to “keep a very vibrant community going and actually expanding,” through their work for the Marlborough Community Coalition. The two Stinson partners lead the law firm’s pro bono partnership with the neighborhood in southeast Kansas City, Missouri.
Pro Bono Impact: Project Affirmation
Project Affirmation – a pro bono project in the Kansas City office of Shook, Hardy & Bacon – offers pro bono legal representation in name change and gender marker amendment actions. Mary Olson, L’15, and Bill Walberg, L’15, share their work leading the project.
Pro Bono Impact: Building Impact
Madhu Singh, L’08, helps small businesses and nonprofits grow through her pro bono work in Washington state. For over a decade, Singh has advised groups on legal best practices.

Pro Bono Impact: Improving Medical, Legal Outcomes
Alumni including Dwight Alexander, L’11, and Dana Pugh Tafreshi, L’12, take on pro bono work for the Medical-Legal Partnership. The partnership between KU Law and The University of Kansas Health System at KU Medical Center in Kansas City provides free legal assistance to low-income patients and their families.

KU Law’s Pro Bono Program

Recording the Legacy of Prof. Raymond Goetz
Doug Bonney, L’85, interviewed dozens of KU Law graduates, former faculty and attorneys about the legacy of the late Professor Raymond Goetz. The oral history project about Goetz’s legacy will be archived at KU’s Spencer Research Library.
