Hi, my name is Karlie Bischoff. I am a 3L from the Kansas City, Missouri area. I graduated from Truman State University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and minors in Spanish and disability studies.
After graduating from Truman State, I served for 27 months as a Peace Corps volunteer with the Youth in Development program in Santa Apolonia, Chimaltenango, Guatemala. While I was in the Peace Corps, I decided that I wanted to pursue a legal career.
I chose to attend KU Law because I was impressed by how many hands-on, practical opportunities it offers and because I knew that KU’s reputation extends beyond Kansas—something that mattered to me when I was choosing a school.
KU Law has exceeded my expectations in both of these areas. I have participated in several experiential opportunities at KU—including law review, moot court, the judicial field placement program, and the mediation clinic. These experiences have taught me so much and helped me develop practical skills. As I had hoped, KU’s reputation and alumni network also helped me achieve my goal of finding legal opportunities outside of Kansas—most recently, in Phoenix, Arizona.
I have enjoyed my time at KU Law, and I have been overwhelmed by the support, encouragement, and guidance that the law school’s faculty and students have given me. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
