Austin Perr - Student Ambassador

1L | Lenexa, Kansas | Kansas State University
Hi, I’m Austin Perr, and I’m a 1L in the KU Law Class of 2028. Before coming to law school, I earned my degree in music education from Kansas State University and worked as an English teacher. Those experiences taught me how transformative education can be, and they ultimately inspired me to attend law school to make a more positive impact on my community and continue growing through learning.
I chose KU Law because of its collegial environment, excellent faculty, and the many opportunities to get involved from day one. The community here is incredibly supportive while still maintaining a high level of academic rigor, which makes it the perfect balance. I’m especially interested in transactional law because I enjoy the strategy and dealmaking that come with it, and I hope to work in financial regulation someday—possibly with the SEC or FTC.
Outside of class, I love going to the gym, playing board games, and writing fantasy stories. My background in music and education taught me that success comes from tenacity and kindness toward others, and I try to carry those values with me into everything I do.
To anyone thinking about applying to law school: the admissions process can definitely feel intimidating, but it will be alright. Use your resources, trust the process, and know that you’ll end up right where you’re meant to be.
