Hi! My name is Blayne O’Connor, and I am a 1L from Wichita, Kansas. This past May, I graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Finance and a minor in International Business.
Growing up, I was exposed to the legal field through several family members, and I greatly admired the work they did. From advocacy to counseling, I saw how lawyers could make meaningful impacts in their communities and help individuals navigate complex challenges. As I developed my own skill set, I found that people-centered roles were the most fulfilling for me. Pursuing a finance degree allowed me to build a strong foundation in business before embarking on my legal education, and I am particularly excited to explore the many facets of business law over the next three years.
I was born a Jayhawk and always knew I would attend KU for my undergraduate studies, but I initially hesitated to stay in Lawrence for law school. As a Kansas native, I considered starting fresh somewhere new. Ultimately, I realized how much this community has given me and how deeply connected I feel to it. Choosing KU Law was the right decision for me. I’m confident it’s where I belong, both academically and personally.
Outside the classroom, I love to read, meet new people, and sew. I’m looking forward to the years ahead at KU Law. Feel free to reach out!
