Michael O'Keefe - Dean's Fellows
2L, St. Louis, Missouri | University of Missouri
Hi, my name is Michael O’Keefe. I am a 2L who graduated from Mizzou with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and come from a long family of Mizzou alumni, so I think I stabbed my family in the heart a little bit when I chose KU for law school.
I am involved in several activities in Green Hall. I am currently a Staff Editor for the Kansas Law Review and a member of the Sports Law Society and the Business and Tax Law Society. Because of my background in biology, I am interested in IP litigation, but I am also keeping an open mind as I work my way through law school; however, I consider myself more litigation-focused.
My one piece of advice for the incoming 1L class is to take time every day to reach out and talk with your family and friends who are not at KU. It is very easy to get distracted by what can be the madness of 1L year and keeping yourself grounded in your life outside of Green Hall will be super helpful to both your success and happiness!
Outside of law school, I am a huge St. Louis and Missouri sports fan and I love spending my free time hanging out with friends or playing golf. I am happy to talk to any of you about anything law school-related or completely unrelated whenever you all want! I look forward to meeting you all!
