Michael O'Keefe - Dean's Fellows

3L, St. Louis, Missouri | University of Missouri
Michael is a 3L who graduated from Mizzou with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences. He is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and comes from a long family of Mizzou alumni. He jokes that he stabbed his family in the heart a little bit when he chose KU for law school.
Michael is involved in several activities in Green Hall. He is currently a member of the Sports Law Society and the Business and Tax Law Society and previously served as a Staff Editor on the Kansas Law Review. Because of his background in biology, he is interested in Intellectual property (IP) litigation. This past summer, he interned at a law firm doing IP work and really loved it. He is happy to talk to anyone about IP law if that's what they are also interested in!
His piece of advice for the incoming 1L class is to take time every day to reach out to family and friends who are not at KU.
“It is very easy to get distracted by what can be the madness of 1L year. Keeping yourself grounded in your life outside of Green Hall will be helpful to both your success and happiness!”
Outside of law school, Michael is a huge St. Louis and Missouri sports fan and loves spending his free time hanging out with friends or playing golf. He is happy to talk to about anything law school-related or completely unrelated! He is looking forward to meeting you all!
