Avery Ain - Dean's Fellows
3L, Overland Park, Kansas | Miami University of Ohio
Avery Ain is a 3L at KU Law. He is originally from Prairie Village, Kansas, but attended Miami University of Ohio for his undergraduate studies. He received a bachelor's degree in political science.
In addition to being a head dean's fellow, he is also a member of the Business and Tax Law Society and the Sports Law Society. During his 2L summer, he worked for Fidelity National Financial in it Omaha office, where he will be retuning full-time after passing the bar. Outside of law school, he enjoys playing on multiple intramural sports teams, including soccer and basketball.
His biggest piece of advice for the incoming 1Ls is to make sure they have an enjoyable work-life balance.
“Staying true to what you enjoy outside of law school is important because the work can take a serious toll on your mental health. Having outlets, like friends and family, allows you to distract yourself from the schoolwork and is just as, if not more important than, the schoolwork.”
