Emily Weiss - Dean's Fellows

Emily Weiss (she/her) is a 3L from Woodland Hills, Utah. She earned her undergraduate degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations from Utah Valley University and later completed a master’s degree in professional communication from Southern Utah University.
At KU Law, Weiss is a Dean’s Fellow, vice president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society Student Chapter (JRCLS), and a participant in the Transactional Law Competition. Last year, she and her partner earned Best Draft and placed second in negotiations at the Wayne State Taft Transactional Law Invitational.
During her 1L summer, she worked in-house at Terracon Consultants, Inc., where she focused on contract review. This past summer, she worked as a law clerk in Provo, Utah, gaining experience in both transactional and litigation matters.
Outside of law school, Weiss enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, baking, and being outdoors.
Her biggest advice for incoming 1Ls is to listen to the range of advice you receive and take what works best for you. There is no one right way to approach law school, and it is important to find what fits your goals and learning style.
“Law school can be stressful and overwhelming at times, but it is important to be kind to yourself. Each of you worked hard to get here—be proud of that. Give yourself grace and the space to grow and evolve throughout the process.”
