Austin Perr - Dean's Fellows

2L, Overland Park, Kansas | Kansas State University
Austin Perr is a 2L at KU Law from Overland Park, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University for his undergraduate studies, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education. Before coming to law school, he worked as an English teacher.
At KU Law, Perr is a Dean’s Fellow, a student ambassador, and a member of OUTLaws & Accomplices. He also volunteers with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), helping provide tax services to the community. This past summer, he worked in Kirkland & Ellis’s Chicago office.
Outside of law school, he enjoys reading, writing, and playing tabletop games with friends.
His biggest advice for incoming 1Ls is to stay present in the law school experience.
“It’s easy to treat law school like a rat race and lose sight of the fact that you’re actually here, becoming a better lawyer every day. Slow down enough to notice when a concept clicks, when you start answering cold calls better, or when you have a great conversation with a classmate. You’ll appreciate law school so much more if you take the time to stop and enjoy the process.”
