Jackson Novacek - Dean's Fellows
3L, Olathe, Kansas | Emporia State University
Jackson is a 3L at KU Law from Olathe, Kansas. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Emporia State University, where he also played wide receiver on the football team. At KU, he’s a returning dean’s fellow and serves as president of the Sports Law Society. During law school, Novacek has gained experience in both insurance defense and criminal law, and he is currently an intern with Douglas County District Attorney's Office.
Through those experiences, he has developed a strong interest in litigation and hopes to continue building on that experience after law school.
Outside of law school, Novacek enjoys working out, golfing, playing pickup basketball and spending time with his girlfriend, friends and family. As a returning dean's fellow, he's excited to help incoming students get settled into law school and hopes to be someone they feel comfortable coming to with questions, for advice or just an honest perspective when they need one.
His advice to 1Ls is to stay consistent, lean on your people, and find a routine that works for you.
“Law school isn’t always going to go exactly how you planned, and that’s okay. Keep showing up, take advantage of the opportunities in front of you and don’t be afraid to learn as you go. Some of the best experiences you’ll have might not be the ones you expected.”
