Sumaya Hussaini - Dean's Fellows

Sumaya Hussaini is a 2L at KU Law from Stilwell, Kansas. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public diplomacy from the University of Southern California. Before law school, she worked as a public affairs advisor at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.
At KU Law, Hussaini is a Dean’s Fellow, a staff editor for the Kansas Law Review, vice president of the Asian Law Students Association, and a member of the KU National Moot Court team. This past summer, she worked as a law clerk for the Olathe City Attorney’s Office, and she is currently interning with a federal judge at the U.S. District Court in Kansas City.
Outside of law school, she enjoys traveling, baking and practicing yoga.
Her biggest advice for 1Ls is to lean on your support system and make time for the things that bring you joy outside of law school.
