Yuvia Serna - Dean's Fellows
3L, Chicago, Illinois | University of Kansas
Hi friends! My name is Yuvia Serna and I’m a 3L. Before law school, I graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Political Science and Spanish with a minor in Latin American and Caribbean studies. During my 1L summer I returned home and worked as a summer intern at the National Immigrant Justice Center, under the Immigrant Legal Defense Project, in Chicago. This past summer I continued my passion for immigration law at Hoppock Law Firm in Shawnee, KS.
At KU Law I am involved in the Hispanic American Law Student Association (HALSA), Women in Law and Balance and Well-Being. I also participated in the Project for Innocence and Post-Conviction Remedies Clinic during my 2L year. Outside of law school, I love spending time at the lake or reading! Lawrence is a great community and has many places to hang out with friends.
My best advice for 1L year is to focus on your own journey. Don't fall into the rabbit hole of worrying about how other classmates are approaching law school and do what’s best for you.
