Mia Colanero - Student Ambassador

Hi there! My name is Mia Colanero, and I am in my first year at KU Law! I am originally from Dallas, Texas, but was raised in Overland Park, Kansas most of my life. I graduated from Fordham University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

After college, I returned home to Kansas where I worked at the Missouri State Public Defender’s office as a legal assistant. My experience there solidified my desire to pursue criminal defense and civil rights litigation.

I chose KU Law because I knew I wanted to practice in Kansas. I was also drawn in by KU Law’s awesome student organizations, clinics and field placements, stellar reputation and inviting community.
